The XVII Commonwealth Games is just around the corner (25th July - 4th August). The games will be held in Manchester. The Queen's Jubilee Baton Relay departed from Buckingham Palace on the 11 March 2002.

The Baton will contain The Queen's Message to be read at the Opening Ceremony of the XVII Commonwealth Games in Manchester. The Baton will travel almost 59,000 miles across the Commonwealth visiting approximately 23 Commonwealth countries over 87 days. The Baton returns to the United Kingdom on 6 June 2002 for the start of a 50 day event.

On the 19th May 2002, the Baton came to Singapore. The Baton Relay started off bright and early, took off with the annual Big Walk passing from walkers to dragon boat rowers, to vintage car drivers coming through Suntec to East Coast Park.

Team SpeedVirus (TSV) is the official Inline Speed Skating Team providing speedsters, junior speedsters and cyclists for this Singapore Leg. Skaters started from Fort Road Carpark down East Coast Park. Our Vice-Captain, Ms Jenn Lui was the Skater Baton Carrier, the rest of the team formed a peleton moving down the coast. The Baton was handed over to our Captain, Mr Jarod Seah who cycled the next stretch of the relay. He handed over to the runners passing through the National Sailing Centre to Laguna NAtional GOlf and Country Club.

Team SpeedVirus is very proud and honoured to be the official Singapore Skating Team (the Baton Carriers) for this leg. Best wishes to all the atheletes during this Commonwealth Games.
