Jan 11, 2004 - Kallang Carpark H. Yawnz... It's a sleepy Sunday morning. Although it was drizzling, nothing could stop the speedsters from racing. It's the gathering of the inline speedsters to race in the 500m, 1000m and 10km Inline Speed Races.

Skaters started stretching & gearing up. Excitement is in the air with everybody zooming round the track and checking it out. Virus Spy said, "Wah... Today we don't need to sweep the floor... ". We rolled round the track to look out for wet spots, cracks or holes on the track.

At about 8.30am the race started. The first event was the 300m speed race. The girls were first, followed by the guys. I was first up. Stress man... Virus LadySpeedster came and gave me a big hug. Aweee... Before I know it, I was already running. Wow, I could hear people screaming and cheering. "GO Girl GO!" Phew, I'm glad I've finished it. No wonder people say that speed skaters are noisy, now I get the picture... haha...

The next in line was Virus LadySpeedster. Wahh... she just ran and ran round the track. Good form man. Judy, Skateliner Clara and Hvper Jasmine were also impressive. No wonder Virus LadySpeedster looked so fast, she emerged 1st, me 2nd and Hvper Jasmine 3rd.

The guys looked stronger and ran faster of course. They looked like guys on funny running shoes with their chopping strokes. Virus CK and Virus Bear actually looked mighty cool with their very quick sprints. Especially impressive was Baby Virus Sean who showed the adults how the run should be done. He looked really cute with his speedy legs chopping and crossing round the bends. Everyone gave their best shot as they sprinted round the track.

The next event was the 500m speed race. It's 2.5 laps round the 200m track. The girls never seemed to loose their voices after screaming at the top of their lungs. Skateliner Clara was yelling madly. Hvper Yong Quan was "thundering". More and more screams, it got louder and louder. When my turn came, I did my best and crossed at all the bends. Virus LadySpeedster and the other girls looked really fast round the track too. The guys continued with their mighty chops. This time, we can see some strained faces in the speedsters.

Next up was the 1000m. I was telling Virus Bear that the rounds are increasing and it's now 5 laps of 200m. We really need to have a lot of energy man. Everybody that came back from his or her races was very tired.

As the clouds were closing in, head wind came along. Argh.... Push ar.... Phew... that wind was strong. I only knew I had to push with all my might as Virus LadySpeedster started half lap behind me and was really going strong round the bends. The other girls also gave their best shot round the track.

When the guys were doing their 1000m, the rain came. Virus CK was on his last lap... He was going, "Argh.... My LAST LAP...!!! " The race had to be called off as the ground started to get wet. The wind got stronger and the drizzle got heavier. Everybody was running to hide, pulling their skates off & hiding them inside the cars. No wonder we are called speedsters... that's really fast.

We waited in the hope that the rain will stop and that we could continue. It stopped for a while, long enough for Baby Virus Sean to complete his 1000m. The wind got stronger and then came the heavy rainfall. The race was cancelled and postponed to the following Sunday, 18th Jan.
