September 3rd & 4th, 2005 - TSV turns FOUR By Virus Evocative.
TSV turns FOUR...!!! It's been four long, tough and challenging years. The mad Viruses have stayed committed to the team with our ever committed Captain at the helm. With every challenge, Viruses packed together and worked through them all. This year we had our anniversary party at Sentosa Coastal Sands and BBQ is the menu. Haha... I guess Viruses simply love BBQ food. Big thanks to the food committee who did the shopping for the best food and the preparations. The guys went about setting up the BBQ pit while the rest of the Viruses chit chatted and the shutter bugs were busy taking pictures of the scenery, mei-mei's and prizes. As dengue fever has been rampant during the past 2 months and in order that no Virus catches it, Captain Jenn went after everyone with her bottle of mosquito repellent and no one escaped her razor-sharp vision.
"Eh.... Can't stand that smell..." protested Virus CK. "Aiya... the cream stick to my leg hair leh..." remarked Virus TT. "Repellent smell doesn't go well with BBQ..." voiced Baby Virus. "Don't want anyone dying over a stupid mosquito!" insisted Lady Speedster and of course wise Captain won the day. As usual, vain Viruses posed all over the place for photos. In the midst of all the busyness and excitement, all I could hear was "Fire is ready". Yeah yeah... FOOD...!! This is when you see everyone gathered around the food table looking really busy. As the aroma teased our noses, our stomachs went into a frenzy of somersaults. Fresh on the menu were yummy black pepper beef, saucy chicken, happy spring rolls, alien crayfish, $25 fried rice, juicy satays and loads more food. There was so much food that I didn't know where to start. Basically I just ate and ate like a greedy pig - time to load my proteins. "Eh... how to cook these crayfish hah??" "BBQ mah.... Everything just throw on the fire lah..." "Wah... what so special about this fried rice hah... $25 a pack like eat gold...." "These satays sjouk only...." Viruses ate like they haven't eaten for a long time and soon, everyone looked a little lethargic. TSV award party would not be complete without the prize presentation for our league. Hardworking Viruses were well awarded with prizes, medals and upgraded status. Congratulations to winners of the Men's Open - Virus CK, Daryl Chan; Women's Open - Virus Evocative, Ethel Lui; Junior Open - Baby Virus, Sean Lim. Special awards went out to: Congratulations to all the Viruses who have done fabulously again this round. It is encouraging to see that everybody is committed not only to the sports but also to the races.
When the last award was given out, Virus SpyDirector hopped onto the stage and said, "Time for my speech again..." with that, he whipped out a gorgeous plaque and continued, "On behalf of all the Viruses, we want to present this plaque as a token of appreciation to our Team Captain, Jenn, for all that she has done for the team. Keep up the good work Captain." "Thank you for this wonderful acknowledgement. I am, but a very small part of this team, without the support of each and every one of you, there's no TSV. Thank you Virus family, this one is for you" continued Jenn. With that, Viruses gave their thundering claps and cheers. Congratulations to Team Bont Singapore as the plaque presentation continued; this flowed over to the following week when Alex Bont officiate it personally as he was unable to join us tonight. Go TBS Go!! "Happy Birthday to us.... Happy Birthday to us... Happy Birthday to TSV..." TSV turns FOUR...!! Yeah!! Viruses stood proudly behind the yummy cake and started hugging and teasing each other. Baby Virus just couldn't wait for the long-winded adults as he poked his little finger into the cake and tasted the thick chocolate immediately.... Hahahaha.... With that, Viruses cut up the cake and quickly gobbled down the thickly coated chocolate dessert..... Slurp!! With skates scattered all over the floor, Viruses were itching for a spin round Sentosa. Restless Viruses sped round the island, went up and down the hills and took on the challenge of the pitch dark and slippery bicycle trail. I could hardly see anything in front of me and it was so thrilling climbing and rolling down slopes in the dark. Everyone tried to hide behind Virus CK who had the sole torch light in the group. At one point, Virus CO rolled at top speed down a hill and managed to take a right sharp turn safely. When we met up next, rolls of hot tears were streaming down her face.... "So scary, so scary...." Thank God for watching over us every time we are on the roads, the tracks, the hills, the slopes..... Viruses went round the island till the wee hours of the night, and where did we get the energy, I'm really not sure. Night skate round Sentosa is a totally different experience than the day. Skating the next morning amidst fresh air, mild sun and musky fragrance of the forest is such a therapeutic experience, especially so for Virus Lady Speedster who went "heeeee and haaaa" up and down all the punishing slopes. Whether it's walking round the part, rolling on the skates or relaxing by the beach, Sentosa is truly a soothing haven. That's what skating is all about when we take time to relax and enjoy the momentum of a good roll. Thank you God for this mad Virus family. Until next time..... Go Viruses Go!!! |
