December 30, 2005 - Christmas Party
By Jenn Lui.

The wok went "Kong kong, swoosh swoosh...." as the flame heats the curry up to a boil, the aroma fills the kitchens, the dining room and the living room. As the tim-sums are steamed at high heat, the oven is busy grilling the potato gratins to perfection.

"Pass the oil, the serai and the tumeric...." said Virus Lady Speedster as she cooks up a storm in her infamous kitchen. Viruses CK and PY busy themselves with the elaborate balloons and party decors. Virus Evocative adds finishing touches to the candles, the music and the settings as she struggles with the electric deep frying pan.

"Rudolf the red nose reindeer....." "We wish you a Merry Christmas...." "Silent Night.... Holy Night..."

As soft music fills the air, the warmth of the night continues... Soon, the tables are filled with crab craws, crispy spring rolls, sotong balls, peppered cocktail sausages, pineapple fried rice, sumptuous chicken curry, freshly baked French loaves, cinnamon shortbread, juicy vegetables, beef gratin and many more delicious yummies.

With red and white wine of the grand vineyard, bubbly champagne, durian puffs and ice-creams, fruits and cocktails, log cake and jellies, the fridge is jammed to its brim threatening to cough out all its content at the slightest provocation.

The 8 feet tall Christmas tree looks extremely happy and contented with presents lying quietly beneath it. More presents are pouring in as each Virus and guest turns in a "kruel" present for exchange later part of the evening. The wicked smiles on some Viruses' faces give a clue to the content of the presents waiting to be opened by the "fortunate" bearer.

The picturesque ambience of a beautiful Christmas tree, softly lighted candles on beautifully carved candle stands, tribal lights warming up the porch, sandal wood scented candles sprinkled along the stairway, heart-warming Christmas carols filling the rooms, aroma oil burning gently in the lovely jars... A nice warm fireplace and white-out snow would have completed the picture.

Soon, everyone is shaking hands and greeting each other with warm wishes and hugging each other in mutual exchange of blessings. As the guests mingle with one another, the flow of drinks and varieties of food continue to fill the tables.

"Weeahhhhh......" Just then, a tiny baby's cry attracted everyone's attention. It's Baby Ethan (all of 1 month) crying for his dinner. Mama Cat quickly goes to his rescue with fully engorged "bottles" as Baby Caitlin (all of 8 months) looks on expectantly.... "Slurp...."

Captain Jenn gets the ball rolling for "kruel" gift exchange. Her gift of a cute wooden toilet door hanger earns her lots of "CHEY...." as she does not have to rock, roll nor dance. Uncle Dom receives a message from his medic and is tended to lovingly with colourful plasters all over his eyes, chin, hands and legs. Virus CK is magically transformed to a dude with a pair of 1000 degrees spectacles and even more protruding biting machines. He actually looks quite kool. Keke... Virus Kim's has burning armpits after heat gel is purposefully rolled on and is jumping up and down the room. Virus EOS has a wake up drink of total bitterness and kept cursing at the presenter, while Baby Virus Sean has his first taste of tobasco sauce in fruit juice. Uncle Roy mistakenly wears his Grandma's pyjamas over his very hairy legs and is posing lovingly in front of the camera. Hahahahaaaa....

"Wah.... Tobasco sauce is very very hot..." cried Baby Virus Sean. "Aiya.... These makeup on my face make it very itchy...." said a scratching Marcus. "What the heck taste so bitter? Who made this and just what am I drinking?" cried EOS. "Ooii.... wear your Grandma's pyjamas but never shave your hairy legs ah? Open your legs so big some more, I tell you, your Grandma sure to faint if she sees you like this" remarked Uncle Dom. "Can take out the plaster already or not, plaster over my eyes cannot see properly leh..." "Wah... my armpit burning leh... What stupid gel is that, so hot one!!" screamed Virus Kim.

Some are hanging on to their chairs as they double over with laughter, while others are just too anxious to move. They are extremely hesitant when it's their turn to receive their gifts. It takes a good one and a half hours before all the presents are opened and claimed by the rightful owners. Finally, we see many dashing to the washrooms still bending over with laughter and crossing their legs very tightly. Hahhaa..... As Captain places a colourful mat on the floor, someone yelled, "Twister"! and so the game begins...

There are those who are veterans at the game - they twist and turn and push and shove till the opponents drop out of the mat, or just cannot find the correct colour spot to place their hands and legs. "Ringggg...." With hands and legs on the mat, Captain had a tough time struggling with her hand phone that decided to ring at the most inconvenient moment. "Hands on the spot " yelled Virus CK as Captain gives him an electric glare! Kekeeee.... "Xi Dom, you are sitting on my hands!"

"EHHH!! Your butts are in my face, make sure you don't fart!!" yelled Marcus. "Ooiii... get your butts up, no butts on the mat!" "Don't push me, I'm falling...."

Virus EOS laughs so hard that his bitter juice almost comes right out of his mouth. Viruses continue to twist till wee hours of the night. As the last bottle of wine drips to a trickle, Viruses begin to show signs of tiredness. As for the babies, they are totally knocked despite the noises, screams and laughters - totally drunk to be exact!

With contented stomachs and arms full of presents, goodies and gifts, Viruses and guests bid each other good night as they sway their way out of the warmth of the lodge onto the chill of the night.

Many thanks to each and everyone who has contributed to the success of this Christmas celebration. Thanksgiving is rightfully the spirit of Christmas - we thank God for His blessings all these years, for watching over every training, every race, every time trial and every event. Thank you Viruses for your spirit of commitment and focus. Until next time. God bless!
