Rise and Shine...!!! It's the SamSung Race today... WOW...!!!
Excitement fills the day as this is the first major race on a closed road circuit just for us skaters! Furthermore, it's smack right in the middle of Cityhall at the Padang. I'm filled with excitement visualizing everybody skating on the road legally and racing. It would be such a wonderful experience for Samsung and the skaters alike.
Padang looks like a carnival fair with tents set up high and all the various Samsung products are displayed. Upon registration, we started to check the place out. Samsung sure has many wonderful products and the place began to buzz with life.
Just as we are about to do our warm up, it started to rain heavily. The race has to be postponed to a later time, so meanwhile we went to watch the programs on stage, danced to the great music, sat around to chit chat and some skaters even fell asleep.
Wet road is of course not good for skating; in addition, the race today is 1km sprint for all. With such wet grounds, everybody has to be extra careful. When the rain finally came to a stop in the afternoon, the races started. There are Elite Open for Men and Women, Juniors Open for Boys and Girls, Fitness Open for Men and Women and Team Race.
It's individual sprint start for Elite Open. The Men went first. We cheered the guys till we were quite sore as Virus Daryl, Kim, Justin, Albert and Roy sprinted off.
Women's Elite Open is next. Virus Jenn sprinted off to a good start as she chopped round the bend; then it was my turn. I sprinted off and went into the corner at high speed. Though I slipped a little, managed to stabilize and continued to push my best. Somehow, I managed to complete safely and even won the race.
Thank God for the many victories in the team with Jenn, Sean, Daryl and Carmen going up to the podium too. Congratulations to all the skaters and Viruses for having completed the race successfully.
Thank you Samsung for choosing Inline Skating as the sport for their event.
