September 16, 2006 - Journey through my first times
By Virus Orange.

Fueled by the New York Cheesecake from the TSV 5th Anniversary Dinner at Raffles Town Club, we set off for our urban night skate before midnight. It was a journey through my 'first times' on that night.

My first-ever night skate with the Viruses, also the first time I've seen many of the elite Viruses on recreational skates. The Viruses took off from the basement car park and my very first obstacle was the steep slope to get to ground level. As usual, I would say "Eh, wait for me leh!"- my favourite catch line.

Starting point being Raffles Town Club, we headed towards Orchard via Stevens Road. The roads were still wet from the earlier downpour but what can deter the Viruses. We were at Orchard Road in no time, whizzing past the pedestrians in the night breeze. Viruses were dashing in and out, left and right, and I could vividly hear them squeal "Wheee!!!" As they were zooming right down Orchard Road.

The next hurdle for me was, after Somerset towards Killiney Road, the steep slope down River Valley Road. Did I give it a miss? Of course not, I was full of guts as I was 'guarded' from head to knees. While the night was still young at the clubs, we whizzed past Clarke Quay, MOS then Boat Quay, heading towards Esplanade. At 2am, Viruses decided to do their non-speed practice. It's spinning time! Viruses were going round and round, forwards and backwards. Some were attempting their Salchow, Grapevine, Mohawk and 3-turns while others were trying to perfect their forward and backward Crossovers. Having enjoyed the 'performance', we headed for Lau Pa Sat as Virus Coolzone was hungry.

A session of makan and chit chat, Virus Sun fell asleep beside me and that was 3am! Taking almost the same route back, Viruses dashed up another crazy hill, down onto an empty road, and before long we were at Raffles Town Club again at way past 4am. Early as it might be, I thoroughly enjoyed the night skate and happily chalked it up to my training log.

Good morning everyone, it's time to say good night.
