25 July 2004: TSV Time Trial - Time for another Challenge
Written by Justin Chew.

"La di da di da da da..." Oh, it was Virus Lady Speedster's greeting message: TIME TO SKATE!!! This was to ensure that I had not overslept. Going about my normal routine, making breakfast, change and then, just as I was about to leave, alamak, had to rush to bomb (nature's call). "Jialat late liao."

Upon reaching, I saw the Viruses were all busy sweeping and preparing. From far, they looked like a team of specialized car park cleaners. Having cleared the debris, mob the wet patches, marked the points and corners; everyone geared up. Warm up was an event in itself. Lady Speedster was of course doing her usual round of checking and showing the Rookies the formidable track.

Suddenly, I noticed Virus ZeroSpin was hopping, running, jumping and finally ended over the other side of the road!! Wow, how did he make it across the drain and the whole stretch of grass patch??!! Hahahaha.... seems he under estimated the sharp corner and over shot. It reminds me of what Lady Speedster always drill in us during training, "Basics, basics..."

While the regular Viruses went about doing warm ups, the Rookies were visibly worried and were elbowing each other to perform their "stunts".

First up was the sprint event and the Junior Viruses went first. "Chop, chop, chop.... Push, push, push..." Man..... they were sprinting like they weren't on skates! Wished I had those reflexes. Some Rookies were visibly shaken by now; their constipated looks were quite a sight to behold! One of them ran like she was on stilts, hopping like a bunny to the finishing line.

Next was the long distance. We went to our respective groupings and got ready. Ready, Get set, GO!!! Off they dashed looking every bit the seasoned skaters. Others cheered and screamed at the top of their lungs. By now, there were about 4 cars parked by the side and some came out and sat around to watch us race. They were cheering us on too! Round and round the Viruses went against the head wind. With each round, the effort began to slowly take its toll on those who were doing it for the first time, fatigue set in and backs were aching.

Next up was my group. As we started, I thought, "Wah piangz.... die already, so much head wind." Throughout the whole distance, Virus Evo and I were like racing, though we had to be careful not to pace behind each other. With Lady Speedster and gang cheering everyone on, I completed my time trial and joined them to cheer the rest on.

Suddenly someone screamed, "Ahh......." Virus Meemee was on the ground. "Get up and go!" Encouraged Junior Viruses. With a determined look on her face, she picked herself up and continued to push on. Great job!!

Virus CK shouted, "Virus Luvluv last round! Faster!" She pushed her way to the finish line and then did a T-brake stopping almost in front of the timers! Hahaha... though it's not the first time she's been in a race, her nervousness definitely got the better of her.

After everyone had completed, we cleared the area and gathered for a post-mortem. With the smile on Lady Speedster's face, we know we must have done well.

Congratulations to all the Viruses who have successfully completed the time trial. I'm quite happy with my performance today. Having been with TSV for more than 2 years, I've learnt a lot and been through a lot of experiences with the team. Thank you for guiding and pushing me. Until next time..... Pasta anyone??
