29 May 2005: TSV Time Trial - Lovely day for a Great Event
Written by Justin.

Today is TSV's Time Trial and great anticipation is in the air. Though the sky was overcast with white and grey clouds, it was not enough to dampen our spirits.

A cool breeze brushed against my face as I disembarked from the bus to the site, giving me a calming effect. Soon everyone arrived, warmed up and got ready. Briefed for the day's events, we made our way to the starting point. Team time trial is, as usual an exciting event in our calendar.

Viruses looked focused and fast as they went round the bends doing their great crosses, sprints, double-pushes, etc. Some Viruses were more careful than others as many had witnessed how I "fell in love" with the road during the previous time trial.

As I was approaching the last round, I looked at the time keepers for some confirmation, but I believe they were simply too engrossed in their job on hand to notice my enquiring look, so I just pushed to my max and completed in good time.

As each Virus did his/her round, everyone cheered, clapped and screamed and eager to see who over takes who. Virus KP over took Virus 003 and that prompted Virus 003 to give chase and stayed behind his butt for as long as he could. It was fun watching the two of them trying to outdo each other.

Although the wind wasn't that friendly, everyone pushed to their max and some even managed to break their own records.

"Come on Cindy, push harder!!!"; "Go Baby, chase her..."; "Wah... all approaching the bends at the same time and still attacking... Go Go Go!!!"

With the new format, the Team Race was a huge challenge. Teams were to skate together in cadence and finish their laps without any help from team mates (no pushing or pulling). It was fun to watch different teams apply different tactics to try and win the race.

During a lighter moment, Baby Virus and Evocative were singing and clapping as they went round the track together with team mate Virus KL, they were actually having tons of fun and even emerged first! Chey!!!

However, the moment Virus Bear tried to crab during his laps with his team mates Viruses KP and Corny; our Captain Lady Speedster shouted, "You are DQed". That reminds us that fun as the races may be, rules are rules.

After another race post-mortem, most are happy with their results. A few promised to train harder and do better the next time. In true tradition, that's the spirit of the Viruses. Until next time... Skate harder...
