March 18, 2007 - TSV Time Trial - Race against the ramp By Virus Carmen
"Go go go go go go go go…" (accompanied by slow motion hand movements) "Woa, how come Virus Coolzone can overtake two people with one cross and two people overtake me when I cross?" It started out as a day of fun and enjoyment as Viruses gathered to try to beat their personal bests, and of course, to become the fastest sprinters! One by one, Viruses stood at the starting line, hearts pounding as they knew they had to sprint the fastest they can manage.
"Ready, on your mark…" Off they went, sprinting for their lives until they crossed the finishing line. Viruses Bear and Evo, which were the first two to go, "tested the ground" for us. Both tried a sharp turn after ending at high speeds and Virus Bear scraped past the wall while Virus Evo let off a loud scream when she crashed and overturned a rubbish bin. Tough Virus Evo simply took it in her stride, brushed her butts and pushed off to resume her duties. After that, all Viruses decided to play it safe and dashed up the ramp. Following that was the mid distance ITT where Viruses were split into 2 groups. 60 laps we had to go, round and round the track. It was long and tiring with many of us forgetting how many laps we went and relying on the lap counters. It was not an easy job for them, seeing that skaters were of different speeds and lapping of the slower skaters made their job all the more difficult. This goes to show that skaters not only have to be fast, we have to be smart too (which we actually already are:). It also reminds me of the races that Lady Speedster and all those kind volunteers who worked so hard to put together. Like she often says: All in all, another great time trial completed, and I am happy with the results (I think I saw a smile on Captain's face when she clocked my time). Thank you God for protecting us all.
