April 27, 2008 - TSV Time Trial - Train with the spirit
By Virus PC

The sun shines on a new day. A new start. A new rise.
The rise of a champion…

People always aim to get better. One step at a time.
To me, what it takes to be a real athlete is to give his best, and beat all his personal records, one by one to emerge as the champion. I train not just with physical strength, but with spirit. The team spirit keeps me going, as I turn up for training weekly. I train with discipline, not carefreeness.

As for today, the league will serve as a giant opportunity to show where my training has taken me. As I stood on the starting line getting ready to sprint my max, I could hear the cheers that my team mates were sending my way. It may not be the first, but I am still a rookie and my excitement must have shown as I nervously went round the track for the 300m sprint that took all out of me. In my heart, I knew I'd done my best and that's all that matters.

The feeling of participating in the league was euphoric. The adrenaline pumping through my veins kept me going at my top speed. It's amazing that I did not even feel a tinge of tiredness, and just continued to push my max to the final rounds during the 5km race. You'll never experience that feeling unless you participate in speed competitions.

The intense atmosphere at the starting line and just before the signal went; the tensed leg muscles and getting ready to sprint off; go at top speed and still remain in control; and then finally when passing the finish line…. These were the hardest to bear and yet enormously satisfying.

I'd like to thank my coach, Jenn, for being patient with me whenever I stumble and whenever I fail to achieve a better timing. Not forgetting all my team mates, who have given me encouragement and continue to edge me to keep on improving and break records.
